Lessons
Unfortunately, Social Studies is often overlooked in many schools. Reading, Writing, and Math are deemed more important and, therefore, receive the bulk of allotted time.
However, for my field experience I have been working in a school that equally values Social Studies. I have been encouraged to create lesson plans that not only challenge my students, but also have real-life meaning. Click here to view one such plan. As of right now I have not taught this lesson, but I do look forward to doing so. Here is a link to a lesson I did get to teach. It is a shorter, more simple lesson, but still an engaging one.
